Backgrounds & History
Sakung Lanawn Lakawn Pawnba Ginra is the first and only dedicated elderly care center in Kachin State, Northern Myanmar, founded on May 1, 2023, by Sr. Lashi Hkun Gam. Located in 10-Mile, Nawng Nang, Myitkyina, the center was established in response to the urgent needs of elderly individuals displaced by ongoing civil conflict.
This sanctuary currently cares for 22 vulnerable elders—many of whom are childless, ill, or without family support—offering them a safe, respectful, and peaceful home. The center provides daily healthcare, nutritious meals, shelter, emotional support, and above all, a sense of dignity in their final years.
Amid challenges such as flooding, housing damage, and growing numbers of residents, the center is working tirelessly to rebuild safer, permanent housing and secure consistent access to medicine and food.
With limited resources, Sakung Lanawn Lakawn Pawnba Ginra relies on the generosity of individuals and organizations to continue its life-saving mission: ensuring that every elder in their care lives out their days in peace, safety, and compassion.
